don’t overdo sugar

Don’t Overdo Sugar

don’t overdo sugar

Sugar is a type of carbohydrate that has been stripped from its natural fiber matrix. While there are a number of types of sugars in nature, all of them take their toll, health-wise. Sugar is a treat, and treats are for special occasions only. Added sugar would be, as it states, the addition of extra sugar beyond that which occurs naturally in a given type of food. Examples might include sweetened yogurt, ketchup or barbecue sauce, or candied apples. Our bodies are designed to be able to handle a certain amount of sugar-containing items. Beyond this, however, added sugar sticks to the proteins in your body, making them function poorly, and increasing the rate of aging. These sugary proteins age your immune system, your arteries, and even your joints.
All of the following are different names for added sugar, and we recommend that you avoid any products that contain them within the first four ingredients: brown sugar, corn sweetener, dextrose, fructose, fruit juice concentrate, glucose, honey, invert sugar, lactose, maltose, molasses, raw sugar, sucrose, table sugar. Also watch out for concentrated fruit juice and expeller pressed organic rice extract.
